Statement of Faith
This church is of basic fundamental doctrine as set forth in the Holy Scriptures. The Word of God shall be the doctrinal practice and discipline of this Church.
1. THE SCRIPTURES
A. We believe the Old and New Testament is the inspired, infallible, and
inerrant Word of God. (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
2. THE GODHEAD
A. We believe the Godhead is a trinity in unity, manifested in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
B. The Baptism of Christ supports the Trinity. Matthew 3:16-17: “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
C. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all declared as God.
a) The Father as God: (Jn. 6:44-46; Rom. 1:7; 1 Peter 1:2)
b) The Son is God: (Isa. 9:6; Jn. 1:1; 20:28; 1 Tim.3:16; Titus
2:13; Heb. 1:8)
c) The Holy Spirit as God: (Acts 5:3-4; Heb. 9:14)
3. SALVATION
A. We believe that Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
a) Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
b) Romans 1:17: “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
c) John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
d) Romans 10:9: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved”
4. WATER BAPTISM
A. We believe water baptism is by immersion only, and is a direct commandment of our Lord. We believe water baptism should be administered in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit as was instructed by our Lord.
B. Matthew 28:19: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”
5. BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
A. We believe the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a distinct work from Salvation for all believers with the evidence of speaking with other tongues.
a) The disciples whose names where already in the Book of Life (Luke 10:19-20), received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in other tongues separate from their salvation experience.
b) The revival of Samaria in Acts chapter 8 reveals the people were converted and baptized in water (8:12)then later were baptized in the Holy Spirit (8:14-17).
6. SANCTIFICATION
A. We believe sanctification is a work of grace commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the return of our Lord. (1 Cor. 1:2;1 Thess. 5:23)
7. COMMUNION
A. The ordinance of the Lord’s Supper is a commandment of our Savior; being a memorial to His death and resurrection, and is strictly limited to Christian believers. (Luke 22:19-20; 1 Cor. 11:25)
8. DIVINE HEALING
A. We believe divine healing is provided for in the atonement of Jesus Christ and is available for any believer for any age.
a) Isaiah 53:6; “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
b) James 5:14-15: “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”
9. SECOND COMING OF CHRIST
A. We believe the second coming of Christ includes different events. First, the rapture of the church, when the dead saints are resurrected and the living saints are caught up to be with the Lord. (1 Thess 4:16-17) Second, a seven year tribulation period will follow. Third, The return of our Lord with the saints to establish the Messianic Kingdom in the earth.
10. ETERNAL PUNISHMENT
A. Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
